What Does Broken Bone Care Entail?
Broken bones are delicate and each case differs among the patients we see. We treat all types of broken bones, treating everything from broken toes to broken noses. The kind of care you’ll need will depend on the kind of broken bone you have. Usually, we start by performing an X-Ray, MRI, or some other form of bone scan to assess how and where specifically the bone is broken in order to determine the right care for it. We charge only $30 for all of our X-Rays.
Depending on the severity of the broken bone, we may need to pop it back in place. Other times, the bone may be able to heal on its own without doing this. The majority of the time, you will be given a cast or splint to keep the bone in place so it can heal. You’ll also be given medications to help with the pain and to prevent infections.
After You’ve Broken a Bone
Broken bones can take time to heal, and there are many things you want to do after you’ve broken one to ensure it heals properly. This can include physical therapy and other forms of rehabilitation. It’s important to take care of the injured area to ensure it heals properly, including keeping your cast dry, using crutches as needed, and avoiding strenuous activity.
Facts About Broken Bones
Broken bones are incredibly common. While our bones are sturdy and supportive, they can bend and snap under extreme pressure. Oftentimes, after breaking a bone, many people feel dizzy and woozy. They may even experience chills. It’s normal for someone to pass out from the shock of breaking a bone, but it’s also common that people don’t feel much pain at all. It all depends on the person and where they’ve broken their bone.
